**Suspect has been taken into custody. Law enforcement will be clearing the area shortly.**
Gallatin County Sheriff Dan Springer reports that on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at approximately 4:30pm, Sheriff’s Office Deputies arrived at a residence in the City of Bozeman to serve a temporary order of protection. Upon arrival, deputies attempted to make contact with a male inside the residence. During these attempts, the male presented a sword-like weapon, pepper‑sprayed a deputy, barricaded himself inside, and made statements about harming people.
Throughout the incident, the male displayed weapons and made threats of harm toward deputies. Over the past few weeks, the suspect has made threats toward his roommate and neighbors, resulting in several law enforcement interactions.
This afternoon, Gallatin Valley SWAT was dispatched to contain and arrest the male. Law enforcement will remain on scene until the situation is fully secured and no further threats to the community exists.
